Pork and shorts… that’s explains our night!!!
First off the elves brought some pirate treasure dig blocks, did advents and had pretzels and marshmallows.
After school Zeq came home very grumpy.. why have no idea. But behavior chart showed he has grumpy as well. Never a dull moment.
Got home from school John came, ya John… not so much. He redirected and went about his day. Played his game. Then dinner.. so he had pork chops… yep Zeq.. he had pork chops, turned down mashed potatoes and ate more pork chops. Who is this kid.. no day is like the day before in our house that’s for sure. For today he eats pork, tomorrow probably wont remember it.
After dinner he played his game, and did the elf project took his medicine and went up for a bath. Here is where it gets interesting.. takes bath fine. Puts his normal basketball shorts on.. all good right?!?! Not so much.
Something is wrong with these shorts. No clue what.. gets another pair of shorts.. these shorts smell funny?!?! Just washed and dried them.. so gets the third pair shorts.. well these arent good.. by this point full Johnny meltdown.. first thought was just shorts problem(unusal) he only wears basketball shorts no tags. Well as it continued it was apparent that it is Johnny.. Johnny smells everything and squeals when he screams.
More than likely tomorrow he will put first pair of shorts he had on, and it will be fine. But tonight it is not fine. They are dumb, smelly and whatever else.
You see sometimes this is the hard part.. the unknown. Most kids with disabilities have what they call triggers. They are usually the same things that set them off so easily identifiable and easily avoidable. With Zeq it is not easily, it is unknown. It could be anything at anytime. Which in turn makes it complicated. As of this moment he walked down the stairs, no screaming or crying. Not Johnny, but Zeq shorts fixed just coming to get his tea. Somethings in our life are predictable in a sense we know these months will be bad, we dont know what each day will hold, or how bad it will be. So it is always a guessing game.
As we get closer to Christmas it only heightens. So the routine helps the most.
So as your are exhausting yourself, being busy, the hustle and bustle of the season. Remember to stop and that the few minutes to remember what the holidays are about, find something to smile about, find your reason to be thankful.
I am thankful shorts are fixed and that he ate dinner.. or maybe John ate the pork chops.. either way Zeq has food in his belly, he is clean, and his shorts are ok.
Tomorrow will be here before we know it. It will hold a new adventure for us. Until then
Onward and upward
